Is Sheetal on the Master Chef Black List to Reduce Her Exposure?
The Chicago teacher-cum-complete-beauty Sheetal Bhagat has somehow receded from view on the ongoing Master Chef TV series.
Sheetal was featured prominently early on with her distress over her eggs being cooked in a non-oven-ready dish. She aced that round, but since then has hardly been heard from, although last night (Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010), she was overheard muttering something about "salt and pepper" at the truck stop hamburger challenge.
I wonder if this is because she's gaming the system, albeit in a smart, professional, classy way.
Sheetal (who gets offended when Gordon Ramsay mispronounces her name, which is not she-tall but shee-tle, she says) is running not only an ongoing blog-diary about the series, but she also sports a professionally done Web site where she features herself in glorious pictures (sample shown) and offers herself up to agents for booking for modeling, TV appearances, singing (she has a CD out), movies, you name it. The woman has ambition.
I wonder if the producers told the editors to downplay her because of her marketing smarts (she is surviving in the competition, however). On last night's episode, I don't recall the judges' ever being seen sampling her Cat Cora halibut rendition.
Anyway, good luck to you, Shee-tle. It's nice to read behind-the-scenes info about the filming (in March) even if it has cost you air time. I'm not sure you'll survive through the finals, but in the long run, you'll definitely be a winner from all of this.
